Nucor-Yamato Steel (a division of Nucor Corporation and a joint venture with Yamato Kogyo) and Gerdau Long Steel North America have raised their prices for various types of beams and piles.
Nucor-Yamato has announced a price increase of $50 per short tonne on all types of structural and shaped steel. The new pricing applies to orders placed on or after 1 October.
Gerdau Long Steel NA, for its part, has raised prices by $50 per short tonne for various types of beams, shaped sections, and certain types of angles and channels. The increase applies to orders placed at the beginning of this month or later.
Both producers will maintain prices for confirmed orders placed by the end of the working day on 30 September, provided that they are shipped by 22 October. The companies will continue to monitor market conditions to ensure that their prices remain competitive.
It should be noted that on 28 September, Nucor once again raised the price of hot-rolled coils to $1,220 per short tonne. Since the middle of last month, the steel producer has been raising its offer every week by $10 per tonne.
As reported by GMK Center, in September the key global markets were poised for a rise in rebar prices. In the US, at the start of last month, the availability of imported products limited the rise in domestic prices. Offer prices for imported material remained relatively close to domestic prices, even when logistics costs and duties were taken into account.
