US Finished Import Market Share Estimated at 14 Percent in September
20,2025 06:00 AM Based on the Commerce Department’s most recent Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis (SIMA) data, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported today that steel import permit applications for the month of September totaled 1,650,000 net tons (NT). This was a 12.0% decrease from the 1,876,000 permit tons recorded in August and an 11.5% decrease from the August preliminary imports total of 1,864,000.
