US brass mill products imports and exports dropped in Nov '15

The latest data released by the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council (CBFC) indicates that exports and imports of US brass mill products dropped during the month of November in 2015.

SPOKANE (Scrap Monster): According to the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council (CBFC), the imports of brass mill products by the US during the month of November have declined over the previous year. The exports too dropped during the month.

According to data, the US imports of brass mill products during November totaled 33.78 million lb, 11.5% lower when compared with 38.16 million lb imports registered during November 2014. The cumulative brass mill products import by the US during the initial eleven months of the year amounted to 451.48 million lb, modestly lower by 7.3% when compared with the cumulative imports of 487.18 million lb during the corresponding eleven-month period in 2014.

The main exporter of brass mill products to the US during November was Germany. The total imports from Germany during the month totaled 8.90 million lb. South Korea followed Germany with total exports to US amounting to 4.92 million lb. In third place was Mexico. The brass mill products imports by the US from Mexico totaled 3.84 million lb during the month. The other key exporters were Canada (3.53 million lb) and Peru (2.01 million lb).

Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 11.62 million lb in November. All pipe and tube products imports totaled 11.20 million lb. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 7.78 million lb. Copper alloy wire imports totaled 3.18 million lb.

In accordance with the data released by the CBFC, the US exports of brass mill products totaled 18.71 million lb in November this year, 4% down from the exports of 19.48 million lb during November 2014.

The key export destination for US brass mill products during Nov ’15 was Mexico. The exports to Mexico totaled 7.27 million lb. The other key importers during the month were Canada (4.90 million lb), China (842,095 lb), Saudi Arabia (471,582 lb) and Japan (454,866 lb).

Exports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 7.05 million lb in November 2015. All pipe and tube products exports totaled 3.59 million lb. Exports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 5.75 million lb. Copper alloy wire exports totaled 2.32 million lb.

The cumulative brass mill products exports by the US during the initial eleven months of the year amounted to 227.50 million lb, down by 3.1% from the exports of 234.67 million lb during January to November in 2014.
